Group Planner: Spring Break at the Beach

We took a look at the higher elevations for skiing this Spring Break, but what if you’re in need of some sand and surf? There’s no shortage of amazing beaches in the U.S. to explore, and each has its own distinct personality. But, we know that some ocean fronts are better suited than others for the college rite of passage.

Panama City Beach, Florida

1. Panama City Beach, FL — Known as the “Spring Break Capital of the World”, Panama City Beach draws a half a million students to its sugar beaches each year. The high attendance numbers also means top artists are willing to play—for free, plus companies are out giving away free swag.

South Padre Island, Texas

2. South Padre Island, TX — Everything is bigger in Texas, and that includes Spring Break. The best stop is South Padre island, towards the southern border and outside of Corpus Christi. The barrier island plays home to thousands each year for the sports, free concerts and thousands of other spring breakers contained on one four-mile island.

Key West, Florida

3. Key West, FL — It was home to Hemingway and Buffet. The town stops to applaud the sunset. Whatever flies at the country’s most southern point. No further explanation needed.

Daytona Beach, Florida

4. Daytona Beach, FL — Daytona has long been associated with the annual spring pilgrimage with more than 23 miles of hard-packed white sand beach being the primary draw. When it’s time for a break from the sand or the sun, Orlando is an easy drive, offering breakers a chance to hit Disney or Universal.
